About Us

Government Nursing College is situated in the suburban area of Vandanam, 10 km south of the Alappuzha (previously Alleppey) town, of Kerala State, South India.The College of Nursing is located in T.D. Medical College campus, The college is located on the side of NH 47, in 5 acres of land.The college is easily accessible by rail and the nearest railway station is Ambalapuzha 4km away from the College. The students over here are gifted to learn along with the scenic ambience of Alappuzha which is the “Venice of the East”.Govt. College of Nursing, Alappuzha started functioning on 4th December, 2006. The inaugural function of the College and the laying of foundation stone of new college building were held on 21st January 2007. The College is currently affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences. Dr.Sreekumari.D was the first Principal of the College.The first batch of 60 B.Sc. Nursing students were admitted on 23rd January, 2007. The College has 4 batches of B.Sc. Nursing Students and a batch of interns during an academic year.Post graduate program was started on 28th September, 2010 in 4 Specialities- Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing and Community Health Nursing .The total intake is 20 students ,with 5 seats in each specialty.The B.Sc. Nursing programme from 2006 to 2009 batches were affiliated to University of Kerala and from 2010 onwards is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. The college is recognized by the State Nursing Council and the Indian Nursing Council.The college offers unmatched training in Nursing Education through its highly qualified & experienced faculty.The college is under the captaincy of Dr. Bincy.R, a renowned & distinguished teacher & researcher placement: over 90 % of graduation and post-graduates of this institution are placed at various hospitals & College in India and abroad.Govt. College of Nursing, Alappuzha, is attached to Government T D Medical College, which provides facility for professional training to the students of Nursing. The college imparts academic and professional training to the students.
