College of Engineering Trivandrum

About Us

Architectural Education in Kerala started in College of Engineering Trivandrum in the year 1964. The department has been the torch bearer of Architecture Education in the State and has been instrumental in shaping the architectural outlook in Kerala. The Department celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2014. The Department presently offers Bachelor's program in Architecture and three Master's programs: M. Planning (Housing), M. Arch. (Urban Design) and M. Arch. (Environmental Design). The programs are affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) from 2016 onwards. The B. Arch. program comprises of ten semesters and is conducted as per the norms of the Council of Architecture, New Delhi. The postgraduateprograms comprise of four semesters. The M. Planning (Housing) program is recognized by the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI) and both the M. Arch. programs in Urban Design and Environmental Design are conducted as per the norms of the Council of Architecture, New Delhi. The undergraduate B. Arch. program was earlier accredited in the year 2000 and continues to be the first and only B. Arch. course to be accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in the country. The postgraduate M. Planning (Housing) program offered by the Department of Architecture is accredited by the NBA for the academic years from 2017-18 to 2021-2022.
