Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka is affiliated to the State Board of Karnataka. Established on 1st June 1996, the University has shown excellence in the field of Health Science. RGUHS is the name of insurance for a proper and systematic way of teaching, training and research in the advanced and Indian systems of medicinal practices. The institute prides itself for its research and development cell with an immense contribution towards medical science. RGUHS envisions towards more modern teaching practices with some of the common curriculums offered throughout the various courses. The medium of teaching is kept in English. Admission :

The eligibility criterion for all the undergraduate courses requires 10+2 standard or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects with individual passing marks. The admission examination is conducted by the university itself with fair qualifying criterions.

Eligibility

The candidates must have passed Class XII Exam or any other equivalent exam from a recognized institution with PCB as the main subject combination. It is mandatory to pass English exam as well. Though the pass percentage varies from college to college a minimum of 50% is the norm.

Overview

MBBS is an undergraduate course in medicine that spans over five and a half years. MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and is the preliminary course for all kinds of specializations in medicine. The course duration also includes a one-year compulsory rotational internship at the functional medical institutions or hospitals. There are many colleges and universities offering the course of MBBS in India – Government, Private and Autonomous. Many colleges and universities also offer student exchange programs for the brilliant students with many developed countries. MBBS is the stepping stone for a career in the medical profession and is one of those programs that are recognized at the international level.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria varies from college to college; however, it is a must to obtain at least 50% aggregate marks in PCB in Class XII. Further, the candidates must also obtain a pass score in all the subjects individually. The qualifying exam must be passed from some recognized board or institution

Overview

BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Sciences, and is the undergraduate dental course having five years duration. Basically, the admission is granted through the merit list prepared by the exam-conducting universities and colleges. The merit list is prepared as per the marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination. BDS is one of the most reputed courses in India and is in immense demand these days. It offers various career opportunities to the students in government and private institutions. The Dental Council of India is the presiding body of the dental courses including BDS and also offers the registration after the course completion for practicing. Currently, several colleges offer BDS course such as Government, Private and Autonomous colleges. The admissions are made via the entrance exams and the exams are conducted separately as well as together with the MBBS admissions. Once the seats for MBBS are allotted, the seat allotment for BDS is done from the next rank onwards. NEET UG is one of the most reputed and highly competitive exams in India for admissions in BDS as well. All the major processes related to exam such as form submission and results etc are done online.

MDS is the Masters Degree Course after BDS and stands for Master of Dental Sciences. The course opens the avenues of international career and cosmetic dentistry as well. MDS is offered by many colleges and universities in India. The admissions are obtained by the entrance exams that are conducted by the Government as well as Private exam bodies. The presiding body of MDS is Dental Council of India. There is a huge demand of MDS professionals in the medicine sector of foreign nations and it is one of the lucrative medical careers. The MDS professionals can also opt of specializations in dentistry such as dental reconstruction, dental research, health officers and maxillofacial cosmetic surgery procedures. All the BDS professionals can apply for admissions in MDS course.MDS course duration is two years and the course is a full-time regular course. Course duration is three years for the candidates that have done the diploma course of DCI. MDS admissions can be obtained only after the completion of BDS internship and registration with the DCI. NEET PG is one of the most reputed national entrance exams for admission in MDS. MDS has various specializations that are allotted only on the basis of merit in the entrance exam.

To be eligible for the course, the candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks in PCB aggregate and a pass score in all the subjects individually. They are also required to pass one language exam as per the board or university norms they are enrolled with. The eligibility criteria norms also vary across the colleges. The exam must be passed from some recognized board or institution. 

Overview

BAMS stands for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery and is a UG level course in Ayurvedic medicine. This is one of the highly coveted courses in medicine and offers a lucrative career to the graduates. It is a preliminary course for practicing in Ayurveda and is available in colleges and universities managed by the Government and private bodies. The course comprises of the detailed Ayurvedic medicine and basic concepts of the modern medicine. The course pattern is similar to the MBBS with one year internship after four and a half years of classroom study. The students are selected on the basis of the entrance exams that are held by the government as well as autonomous bodies. With the interest of the whole world shifting towards Ayurveda, the demand for BAMS doctors has increased. The degree course is accepted and recognized internationally as well. The BAMS graduates can also opt for the higher education at abroad as many reputed universities and institutes offer courses in Ayurvedic Sciences and medicine. Once the course is complete, the graduates can start practicing after obtaining the registration certificate.

Only the eligible candidates can apply for admissions in BNYS. The primary requirement for getting an admission is a pass in the science subjects in Class XII or any other equivalent exam. The exam and education must be from a recognized education board and recognized institution. Many colleges and universities have other criteria for admissions. So, please check them before applying for the exam.

BNYS stands for Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences, and is emerging as one of the most prominent courses as far as a global career is concerned. It is an undergraduate course that can be joined by the students that have taken and passed the Class XII or any other equivalent exam. The course is in high-demand these days as more and more people are getting interested in Naturopathy and Yoga. Both of them help humans to boost the natural immunity and health, and make the bodies naturally fit. The course spans over four years and six months of which the last year comprises a rotary and residential internship which is compulsory. The course is offered in various private and government colleges and is getting highly popular these days. The course curriculum is available in English and Sanskrit. BNYS prepares the students with basics of the modern medicine as well so as to offer a holistic education. The course comprises of herbal knowledge, acupuncture, homoeopathic medicine and many other key areas. Exercises, Asanas and Pranayam routines are also taught with in-depth knowledge and understanding. The admissions can be obtained directly as well as via the entrance exams.

Only the eligible candidates will be accepted for admissions. The basic criterion is to pass the Class XII or any other equivalent exam from some recognized educational institution and board of education. A minimum of 50% marks is a must in the subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The candidate must also pass these subjects individually.

BHMS is a graduate degree program in homoeopathic medicine and spans over five years and six months. The course comprises of four and a half year classroom study and one-year internship at the medical institutions or Homeopathic Hospitals. With a global shift in the ideologies and treatment preferences, homoeopathy and other natural systems of medicine are getting highly popular and more and more students are opting for them. BHMS Course is taught at many colleges and universities in India and abroad as well. The candidates can start practising after the internship is over, and the registration process with the national government office is done. The graduates can opt for further studies, practice, research, teaching and also explore the career options abroad. Every year, a number of entrance exams are conducted by the government and private institutions for the seat allotment. NEET UG is the topmost exam for admissions in BHMS which allows the candidates to compete for seats on the national level in all types of institutions. The students must apply for the exam only after checking their eligibility criteria online. All the major activities such as form submission, result checking, fee remission and counselling etc. can be done online.

Only the eligible candidates can apply for admission in B Pharm. Eligibility is decided on the basis of marks in Class XII. Most of the colleges offer admissions to the candidates with at least 50% marks in Class XII. However, the colleges that hold entrance exam offer admissions on the merit basis. The category-wise reservations and other rules vary from college to college.

B Pharm stands for Bachelor of Pharmacy and is an undergraduate course in the Pharmaceuticals. The pharmacists diagnose and understand the diseases and their root cause. The pharmacists have many career options before them. They can opt for higher studies and go for M Pharm which stands for Master of Pharmacy. The B Pharm graduates can also opt for research and opening their own licensed medicine shops.
