IIM Ahmedabad – Go to any B-School coaching centre where they train you for the prestigious CAT exam and you’ll know that all the aspirants share a common dream – getting into IIM Ahmedabad. This is so because this B-School has constantly been ranked as India’s number one business school. At IIM-A, there are three main programs under the category of General Management. The regular PG Program in Management spans 2 years and is a full time MBA course, fees of which is close to 20 lakhs. For those who are part of the working class and do not have much time on their hands to attend regular classes, IIM-A offers the Executive 1-year MBA course, the fees of which program is a little over 25 lakhs. Apart from this, those with a special interest in Agriculture Business, IIM-A offers a program called the Agriculture Business Management, the total intake for which is 46, while the intake for the MBA programs are close to 500. The average package offered to graduates from IIM-A ranges between 20 to 50 lakhs per annum.
IIM Calcutta – The university that fares second in the line of top B-Schools in India is IIM-C. It has a legacy of about 60 years now, since it was established in 1961. Spread across a campus of 135 acres, it admits 280 students annually for its various courses which include the PGDM, a two year full time course fees of which is 13.6 lakhs, the FPM program, the PGP program for Executives (costs a whopping 22 Lakhs) and PGP Execuives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing. It has a magnificent library housing more than 160,000 volumes and subscriptions to all the major online business journals across the world. While the average salary offered to IIM-C graduates last year increased from Rs. 24 lakhs to Rs. 25.36 lakhs, the highest salary offered was Rs. 75 lakhs, with at least 15% students getting more than one placement offer.
IIM Bangalore – The two universities that keep shifting places on the second position among the top B-Schools in India are IIM-B and IIM-C. If you have a weak spot for fabulous campuses, IIM-B is the right one for you. It was established in 1973 in a campus of more than a 100 acres. The institution was inaugurated by Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of the country. IIM-B offers 4 programs – PGP, PGPPM, PGPEM and EPGP. Besides management programs, what sets the institution apart is that it also offers programs with regards to public policy and management. Annually, it admits 430 students across its various management courses. The average package offered to students at IIM-B is more than 21 lakhs.
XLRI Jamshedpur – Founded in 1949 by the Society of Jesus, XLRI Jamshedpur is located in the state of Jharkhand, one of the most beautiful states in India. The campus spans 40 acres, and is certainly the most reputed private business school of the country with a constant 100% placement record. The institution offers a big list of programs apart from the full time residential MBA program. In order to be admitted to XLRI, aspirants must clear the Xavier Aptitude Test or the XAT. What sets it apart is the international exposure it offers to its students through its prestigious student exchange program, for it has fostered relations with more than 20 B-Schools of international repute. The highest salary offered at XLRI in 2018 was 50 lakhs, with average salary seeing a rise from Rs 20 lakhs to Rs. 22 lakhs.
MDI, Guragaon – A top-notch private business school in India, MDI Gurgaon has a campus sprawling across 37 acres. Apart from the regular MBA programs, it also offers programs on Energy Management. When compared to other private business schools in India, MDI Gurgaon appears to have a rather affordable fee scheme. Admission to MDI Gurgaon is taken through the CAT. Post the CAT is to be taken a written test and participation is required in a group discussion as well as a personal interview. The average package that the students at MDI Gurgaon bag every year across its mainstream MBA courses lies close to 20 lakhs per annum.
IIM Indore – It is without doubt that we say that for the next 20 years at least, IIMs are not only going to dominate the list of top B-schools in India but globally. In the top 4 MBA Universities India, at least 4 IIMs feature in every list every year. IIM Indore or IIM-A is located in the heart of the country, Madhya Pradesh and has a mega campus sprawling across 193 acres. IIM-Indore boasts of a rigorous exchange program per which about 1/5th of the entire strength of the batch can study at least one academic term abroad. Interestingly, the foundation of the Indore campus of IIM-I was laid down by the business tycoon Mukesh Ambani. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai – NMIMS Mumbai is one of the highest rated B-Schools in India. It is known for a highly affordable Executive MBA program that it offers. The average package that students bag each year at NMIMS is about 16 lakhs.
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade – Established in 1963, IIFT Delhi was established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It’s USP is its international business programs. Besides full time MBA programs, it also runs certain part time MBA programs. In 2018, the highest salary offered at IIFT was a whopping 1 crore.
Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar – It is a Jesuit business school, so you can definitely expect some standards. Established in 1987 at a campus of about 20 acres, it features among the most prestigious private B-Schools in India. The programs offered here are quite affordable. The institution has tie-ups with more than 15 international B-Schools. The average salary however is much below the rest of the universities that figure in this list – at Rs. 14.31 as of 2019.
S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research – The campus is spread across 45 acres. The institution has a massive intake of approximately 700 students across various programs. It as a good placement record with average salary as of 2019 standing at 23 LPA.
