ALL INDIA INSTITUTES OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMSeS), a group of public medical colleges of higher education with autonomous power, are the most prominent medical institutions in India. They are governed by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956. AIIMS New Delhi, the first of its kind in the country, was established in 1956. Other AIIMSes were established in the year 2012, • through the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012 (passed by the Lok sabha on 30th of August 2012 and Rajya Sabha on 4th of September 2012); which proposed the construction of six more AIIMS like institutes for the promotion of quality higher education in medicine and allied health programmes.
Admission Procedure
Admission to all AIIMS is done on merit basis. Candidates, after successfully completing entrance exams like AIIMS MBBS, are called for interview.
Eligibility
Candidates who have passed 10+2IHSC with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a minimum of 60% marks are eligible for admission in AMVIS for MBBS programme. Special categories like SC and ST are given 10% relaxation.
Students who are appearing 10+2/HSC examinations are also eligible for admission for MBBS in AIIMS; provided they pass the exam with the required percentage of marks. They have to present the certificates; proving their eligibility on the day of admission, failing of which may nullify their eligibility.
Age Limit
The candidates must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission. Candidates born on or after January 2,1999 are not eligible for admission to MBBS 2015.
